WHAT ARE THE SONGS ABOUT???
REVOLUTION 10: Shane and Adam needed a funny opener for their first
album. This mix of nothing but thier voices looped in different effects made it happen.
It takes its name from a Beatles song (obviously). One of the first time the Head' would
reference the Beatles.
THE TED SONG: This is their earliest written song. Written by Shane in 1994,
this song was a staple of their first band, BRIMSTONE. The song was written without
words, until Adam walked up to the mic and started singing lyrics made up on the spot
about his best high school buddy TED GROSS. Ted Gross and Adam hung out alot in
high school, and Ted had the reputation of being a drinker and a chain smoker, which
is very much true still today. The TED SONG remains one of Shane and Adam's favorites
of their early work. And Ted likes it too. (**NOTE** This is the same TED GROSS
as depicted as a comic character in Adam's Comic, PLEASANT HYMNS).
SCHLOPPY'S SONG: A long time ago when Adam and Shane did skit tapes
while drunk, Adam created a character who slobbered alot when he talked. Somewhere
between Sylvester the Cat and ridiculousness. This song was written by Shane Logan
in 1995 and was originally titled "LISA LOU" about Adam's first crush when he was 13.
But years later, they resurrected the song and made it a song for Schloppy Sac, as his
skit name is known.
BEER GOGGLES: The only track on the first album to not feature Adam in any
way. Adam arrived for recording duties and Shane had this new song completed. Rather
than waste time re-recording it so that they both had a hand in it, they deemed it already
album worthy. It stands as Shane's LEAST favorite Head' song to date, but Adam rather
likes it.
HOW WE LOVE: with music written by Shane in 1995, Adam once wrote lyrics
for this song, and called it "ISABELLE." It was about a dog that roamed the halls of his
vocational ed. school, but could be interpreted as a love song. Keeping that love song
tradition, Adam and Shane resurrected the oldie and changed the lyrics to these... which
are the most vulgar on the album. Adam has stated that he isn't proud of it, but thinks its
quite funny that such dirty sexual things are sung in such a way that sounds so loving.
Ironic deconstruction at its finest.
SHANE GOT LAID, FINALLY: Adam once wrote this in 1998 as a song to a former
love and it was titled "Nuthin." Adam decided to change the lyrics and make it a contribution
to this new Head' project. It was Adam's idea to have Shane come in at the end and
catch him playing this song about deeply personal sex history. Quite funny.
NO ONE UNDERSTANDS ME/DANCE ALL NIGHT: Adam Wrote the first part
of this song on the guitar, to which Shane translated to a sad piano riff. It is sung by a
skit character Adam created who is called "LIBERCROTCHIE." LIBERCROTCHIE is based
on a gay friend of Adam's who was flamboyantly out of the closet and proud of it. Adam
enjoyed hanging out with him so much that he created this character in tribute. In keeping
with that theme, the band decided to tack on a techno beat and just improv over it. Watch
for a surprise guest to appear halfway through the track. Could be an instand club hit!
BEASTIALITY BLUES: Based on another skit character Adam created called
"Scraggly Schlockabo," Adam plays this old 12 bar blues rhythm he learned early in
his guitar learnin' days. This is supposed to be an old blues man from New Orleans
playing about women always leavin' him. Picture BB KING mixed with TOM WAITS. There
you have it.

NASTIFEST INTRO SONG: Written by Adam in Dropped D, with an end part
contribution by Shane, this is the perfect intro to the festival theme. Complete with crowd
chants and announcer. Adam wanted a song that delivered the statement "we're only
trying to make you laugh." which are what the Head' are all about. Not trying to offend
anyone, but simply make you laugh. If you don't like it, leave.
DOWN SOUTH: The most vulgar song they've ever done. Adam wrote this song
back in 1997 after a girl broke up with him. It was originally called "THE LIGHT OF VENUS
BURNS ME BACK." But this time, give it a Shawn Mullins "rockabye" vibe, and you
got vulgarity galore! Mentions RON JEREMY, who is a personal idol for Shane and Adam.
This is the only track that doesn't feature Shane at all.
I GREATLY DISLIKE YOU: Adam wrote this song in F# and for the longest
time it was called "NO MORE HATE." Often used as a warm up jam song without words,
Adam finally decided to make this version of it for the Head album. It was in two other
different incarnations, until the band finally settled on this concept: A sweet girl who discovers
that some other girl is hitting on her guy, and then freaks out and turns into MEGA BITCH
and jumps onstage and sings to the opposer. And in the end, girls will be girls, they
change thier minds because sometimes the impulsiveness and conflicting impluses
overpower the better judgement part of the female brain. Who can explain it?
I KICKED YOUR ARSE!: A punk song, with music all by Shane Logan. Adam
wrote lyrics and sung in a style such as Jonny Rotten or Rancid. The song's band is called
"Delusional Disintery," again, based on a skit character Adam played once.
ROCKIN' DA MIC: Completely written ten minutes before it was recorded, this
is a mock major label rap song. There were several takes of this song because they
were both laughing so hard at the obsurdity of its simplicity, and that if this same song
were performed by 50 CENT, it would sell millions. Instead, you get the crappy white boy
version.
LIFESIZE SLAVE LEIA: in 1996, Shane wrote a beautiful love song, which
Adam wrote lyrics for and called it "Hollow: The Breakup Song." After never deciding
on its order, they resurrected the song for the Head' project and changed the lyrics
to make it about a geeky Star Wars fan. Adam considers seeing Return of the Jedi the
start of his puberty stage, just because he was infatuated with Slave Leia and a poster
of her, which he had on is wall when he was eight years old in Slave garb. Shane added
an interesting part to the chorus that never existed before just before recording it.
MY PAIN, MY SUFFERING: Adam had this idea for a skit character named
GOTHBOI, a depressed sociopath whose life really wasn't all that bad, but he wanted
it to be. He wrote this song around a bassline and sung it hard and deep. It shows Adam's
distaste for modern rock with all the whining about "problems" that white rich men have.
When, in reality, they have no problems at all. Thus, the SLINKY is born.
WOMEN ARE THE BIGGEST PAIN...: While piddling around the studio, Adam
and Shane wrote this song, a simple acoustic ditty about a girl who leaves a guy and
takes EVERYTHING! (as they often do). The end part with Shane listing off the things the
girl stole is sung like a CAKE song.
BABYS IN THE SADDLE BLUES: Returning to close the album is Scraggly
and his 5 piece band. Another blues diddy that is influenced by the Beatles: "OH DARLING."
Its about a girl who cheats and the guy knows it. Plain and simple, but sad nonetheless.

ZOOMAZOAPOZA: 1/2 Prog song in the early style of Floyd, Genesis and Yes and acoustic nonsense. The perfect mood for an album opener.
JESUS WEPT: A death metal ditty about nothing really. The lyrics say nothing. But listen as Adam sings like all
death metal singers do, (something that sounds like cookie monster) and try to pick out what he is saying. That is half the fun!
I WAS BORN NEXT TO A POWER PLANT: This song, mostly written by Shane, is a country style tune about a hick family
growing up next to a power plant and having odd birth defects.
OPRAH, WE ARE LISTENING: Sung in a Roger Waters Pink Floyd style, this song completely performed by Adam is about Oprah
Winfrey worship. We all do it don't we?
FLABBY GIRLS: Adam was influenced by modern R&B songwriting and told Shane about it. They got on thier new computer system and
found a beat. Adam played piano and did 4 vocal tracks. Magic baby. And this is an ANTI-R&B song. Its not meant to make fun of fat people at all.
The lyrics are on the nose, but Adam feels that all modern R&B is the same way, so he took it the same direction. Deal with it.
GROOVIN' AT THE COMIC CON: A funk song that is about hanging out at a comic convention. Listen to mentions about all things geek: Star Trek,
Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica, Horror Films, Goth people and even Adam's comic books!!
DUBAYA: A children's sing along, brilliantly written by Shane. This is the 'Head's first thrust into political humor. The song speaks for itself.
BRIAN'S LONELY: A quick song done in the 1990's Tom Waits style, Adam simply plays a padded chair and screams. Shane cat calls and plays the cowbell.
I GOTTA QUIT MCDONALDS: Another country song, sung in "Johnny Cash" style by Adam. The song is about Adam's personal addiction to fast food and his constant
battle with weight loss. Quite a personal thing for him to convey. So, why not make fun of him in song!
BADONKEY DONKEY: Written with thier new computer beats program and features the return of a familar character. Professor Balzik Nutzik is back and freestyling over the beats.
Shane is on piano solo.
THAT ONE GRUNGE SONG: An improv song done in the sloppiest Grunge style possible. There are no words really. Just mumbling incoherently and having an odd song
title that doesn't even match the song's words. Ah, don't you miss the Grunge music era?
BUMPIN' UGLIES: An old school techno song about young love and getting caught. Rumour has it that Adam played his belly as a musical instrument for this song. Listen closely
and you might just hear a surprise!
BUSHWACKED: Another first for Idiothead, an INSTRUMENTAL! Adam is nowhere on this track, and Shane does shine. He recorded the music and a certain someone did the rest. Poltical
views notwithstanding, we think the message is clear.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A POPSTAR: Written in the studio by Adam and Shane, this song stands as one of their best. Its a "we are the world" type of awareness song, a
"give peace a chance" song and a "hey jude" type outro all in one song! Practically every skit and song character that Shane and Adam have done show up to share vocal duties on this
song, including a few new ones and a couple surprises. This song will take several listens from you to catch every joke. There is so much going on. Adam and Shane have stated that this one
is thier favorite on the new album.

THE PENIS SONG: An outtake from the Nastifest sessions.
The SCHLAGLE SONG: another outtake from Nastifest. An earlier version of "I
GREATLY DISLIKE YOU."
QUIZNO'S SUBS: Almost a cover song, its the commercial for the Quizno's with the
gerbils singing it.
GARY SCHROADER: A demo by Adam about his Boss at the newspaper.
BOB ON THE CLOWN: A punk rock song demo, very sex pistols about a girl who is a
nymphomaniac.
TOMARROW ALWAYS KNOWS: another song full of noises and voice nonsense,
similar to Revolution 10. Recorded during the "Nastifest" sessions. The Head's longest
written ditty, clocking in over 7 minutes long. Didn't make the final cut.
SOMEONE SHOULD WRITE A SONG FOR THANKSGIVING: a demo by Adam
for the Head's "Holiday Album," which will be released sometime in the future.
What is "IDIOTHEAD" and how did they begin?
AWNSWER: Idiothead is a joke band formed by Adam Talley and Shane Logan,
who met while they were going to high school. After performing in several bands, they
decided to join together as a comedic writing team to form IDIOTHEAD! The band's SOUND
is often referred to as "like Weird Al, only very vulgar!" The band plays in any genre they wish,
while singing the most vulgar, immature and offensive lyrics they can. Their CD's are also
graced by "skits," in that Adam and Shane pride themselves on their voice acting. All songs
invoke a 'story' or a visual quality. You enjoy the music fully if you just sit back and take the
joke tongue in cheek as the band performs it. They do any genre from Pop, Rap, Techno, to Prog,
Industrial, Blues and Drunken Bar Piano songs. Shane and Adam have been recording as
a writing team since 1995.
IDIOTHEAD's First Album. 2004's "Don't Turn The Knob Past Obsene!"
Adam and Shane decided to reunite and use those old songs from high school.
Armed with more mature playing ability and venom filled vulgar words, they set foot in
the studio and emerged triumpant with this, thier first album!
